Camping: the art of getting closer to nature while getting farther away from the nearest cold beverage, hot shower and flush toilet.

In October our troop decided to do a hike and overnight at H.R. Bartle Scout Reservation. We hiked out about four miles on the Osage Wilderness Trail and set up our camp. This was a different experience for our troop. We usually only car camp and the opportunity to rough it a little was enjoyed by all. I must admit I was concerned about our young boys making it. We have some boys that are very small for their age and at 11 that makes them SMALL. The amazing part is how each of them not only stepped up but really enjoyed themselves. This photo was taken before we got on the trail.
